How to Use the Character Counter

The Internet Octopus Character Counter counts characters, words, lines, and bytes in real time as you type or paste. No text length limit.

Characters vs. Characters (no spaces)

Character count includes all characters including spaces and newlines. The no-spaces count excludes all whitespace — useful when a platform counts only visible characters.

Byte Count (UTF-8)

ASCII characters (A–Z, 0–9) use 1 byte each. Korean, Japanese, and Chinese characters use 3 bytes each in UTF-8. Useful when checking database storage or API payload limits.

Manuscript Pages (200 characters)

Shows how many 200-character manuscript pages your text fills. Commonly used in Korean academic and creative writing to estimate document length.
